FAQ

The questions people ask most about NumFranc.

Frequently asked questions

Is NumFranc free?

Yes. The software is open source (MIT licence) and free on Mac, Windows and Linux. No NFR is sold.

Do NFR have any value?

No value is promised. NumFranc is open-source software under development; NFR are created only by mining.

How do I get NFR?

By mining with your computer (automatic after installing), or by receiving a payment from someone.

Does mining damage my computer?

No, but the processor works harder and gets warmer, like when gaming. You can choose how many cores to use, and day/night schedules, in Settings.

Is it safe?

The code is public and verifiable by anyone, tested automatically for every release, and every release is signed with SLH-DSA. It has not yet been independently audited by a specialised firm.

What if I forget my password?

When you create your wallet, NumFranc gives you a recovery code in 3 pieces: any 2 pieces restore everything. Keep them on paper, in 3 different places.

Why 691 seconds and 69.1 million?

69.1 million is roughly the population of France on 1 January 2026. And 691 seconds gives a pace close to Bitcoin's (10 minutes).

What is a 51% attack?

Someone with more than half of the mining power could rewrite the latest blocks. NumFranc limits any rewrite to 10 blocks, includes checkpoints and penalises chains mined in secret. The best protection is a network with many independent computers: install NumFranc to strengthen it.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. There is no account, no central server and no advertising. Your wallet stays encrypted on your computer.

How can I help?

Install NumFranc and leave it running, report bugs or suggest improvements on GitHub, and tell others about it.

NumFranc aims to become a leading post-quantum payment infrastructure, used by individuals and businesses alike. Open-source software under development: no NFR for sale, no promise of value.
